Life on the floor

Sadie was refusing to crawl today, usually she loves being on the floor and she always wears pants that cover her knees when she crawls, but I just found out why she didn't want to.. She has some blisters! I would love to know if there are pants made for this much floor time. Maybe I'll make her some!

Socks for leg braces

Sadie has been wearing afo's for a long time and we found these socks at our local REI store! They are wool and they are long enough to wear under her braces!

Swimming time!

Swimming has always been a challenge, trying to figure out what works for her. I love to swim around and just hold her but after a while I get tired. During her visit to grammas this month, we found something that worked!! It's this little boat! She is able to paddle around independently which makes us all happy!!!

My first library card!

We are at the library! Sadie got her very first library card this week and it's a great place to stay cool in this heat and have fun reading! She is a little loud though yelling "eye" as she points to an eye in her book and then laughs! I set her on the rug and prop her up with boxes of books and stuffed animals.

i love you

Sadie was born with auditory neuropathy. she has had two surgeries for cochlear implants which has allowed her to understand language but her speech is extremely limited. last night as i was putting her to bed we were practicing saying i love you. she can sign it and she can say i uh oo. but not in a sentence, she repeats each word after i say it.

where is the school for deaf AND disabled children?

Today i am spending the day finding sadie a school. There are two in my area but they are not set up for physical disabilities. The classrooms are tight and it would be hard for her to get around in her walker. The school she went to last year was geared toward disabled children and not communication and her teacher didn't think it was a good fit for her and i agreed. Im wondering if home schooling her would be better but she really loves going to school. i dont know what to do..
